Human Touch
At Aedi Design Bureau’s South Jakarta studio, rest and reflection are not viewed as disruptions, but essential practices that nurture the spaces and rituals anchoring their human-centered design process. Led by husband-and-wife duo Eko Priharseno and Audrey Bernanda, the Jakarta-based practice has spent the past two decades nurturing a design approach shaped by empathy, process and lived experience. Designers are encouraged to step away from work every few hours. Yet, whether these pauses are spent reading, sharing coffee or engaging in spontaneous conversation, they’re considered essential to the creative process, allowing ideas to settle and return with renewed clarity. By prioritising emotional and behavioural understanding, Aedi approaches design as a form of care. In doing so, Aedi returns design to its essence: a deeply human process.
